The future is frightening precisely because it’s unknown. World War III, a robot takeover of humanity or eternal slavery to a system or matrix? These are all questions we can only truly answer in time, although many would rationally — if a bit boringly — say such outcomes are unlikely.

Still, these themes will likely remain relevant for a long time, as they could become reality at any moment. Love, Death & Robots, the anthology series by Tim Miller for Netflix, explored them brilliantly in its first, second, and third seasons. Many fans still argue that the 2019 debut season remains unmatched in terms of quality and storytelling.
The show is essentially a unique anthology exploring what might happen in the future. As its title suggests, the central themes revolve around technology, death, brutality — and of course, love.

The series has won over both audiences and critics alike, arguably becoming the most successful anthology on Netflix — though admittedly, there aren’t many competing shows in this genre on the platform.
The new season is already out, and judging by the trailers, we can expect a wide range of stories from different universes — some where people have become happier, and others where things took a darker turn.

In any case, look toward the future with optimism, enjoy the new season of this animated masterpiece — and most importantly, don’t forget to stay human.
