Not many people would say that their favorite genre is tragicomedy, especially when compared to hugely popular genres like superhero films or romantic comedies. Still, dramedies often have every chance to become deep, thoughtful, and even cult classics — films that enter cinema history and change many people’s lives.
Recently, the trailer for the British film The Christophers was released, starring Ian McKellen, Michaela Coel, James Corden, and several other well-known actors.
The story follows the estranged children of a famous painter who hire a forger to finish the elderly master’s unfinished paintings so they can sell them. But will everything really go according to plan?
The premise certainly sounds intriguing, and hopefully the film itself will live up to that promise. The Christophers, directed by Steven Soderbergh and written by Ed Solomon, arrives in U.S. theaters in April and in the United Kingdom in May.
