Every now and then, we all crave a melancholic romance — something simple yet profound, tender but deeply sorrowful, the kind of story that feels like it’s not you enjoying it, but your very soul.
A trailer has just been released for Four Letters of Love, a film about two families brought together seemingly by chance — or perhaps by the “will of God” — after the son of one family falls blindly and irrevocably in love with the daughter of the other.

The boy’s father is played by Pierce Brosnan, whose career has seen a recent revival with roles in Black Adam and The Black Bag. The girl’s mother is portrayed by Helena Bonham Carter, a British and Hollywood icon remembered by generations for her role as Marla in Fight Club, her collaborations with Tim Burton, and of course, the Harry Potter franchise.

Despite the trials of fate and life’s many challenges, it remains unclear whether these two young souls will ultimately be together, or whether all the efforts of their parents were in vain — and their story, like the protagonist’s letters, will be forever forgotten.

You’ll find out this July, when the film hits theatres.
