I love this phrase a lot and I constantly get convinced of its power! Why did I choose that topic for a new article? Probably because I do want every single woman to be happy! Sounds cliché? Maybe. But it is true! I have always wanted that. I wanted to be happy and always did everything for it. I wanted the women around me to be happy, and I always tried to make their lives a little happier. And it always works!
In many of my articles and podcasts, I talk about the smile, about its importance, about how it always improves mood and does open any door! Also about the fact, it is very difficult to forget a cheerful person, about how people are drawn to joy and happiness, so if you radiate it, there will always be people around you who value your smile, your light, or, as they say now, your energy…
A few years ago, I wrote a note called “A Woman Who Is Impossible to Forget.” Afterwards that note was included into my book “Notes on a Tasty Life,” as well as in my podcast series “Between Us Girls”.
“The smile attracts, and laughter fascinates” — this is my new phrase, created for this article. I suggest you conduct an experiment, which is very simple, but it will show you the power of my phrase. So, you are supposed to go outside and just walk, frowning your eyebrows and acting worried. At the same time, you need to pay attention to the looks of passers-by at you. Most likely, you will notice that no one is looking at you, and if they suddenly do, they immediately look away. It is enough to walk for three to five minutes to notice it. Then I suggest you start the second task: “flip the switch” in your mind, shift into a cheerful mood, turn on your smile and walk at the same pace, watching passers-by. I am sure you will notice how these passers-by pay attention to you and do not look away. Why? Because they are interested! Your smile attracts attention, creates interest and it is just nice to look at you.
People are attracted to the pleasant, they are attracted to joy, and they are attracted to happiness!
Now about laughter… It is more difficult to conduct an experiment on your own, so I am offering you to do it with a friend. Try entering a café silently, focusing on searching for a table. Most likely, people’s reaction in the café will be the same as in the task number one. No one will pay attention to you! Then go out and come back there again, having previously told your friend something funny and amusing, which will make you both laugh heartily. In this case, café visitors’ eyes will be drawn to you! Not only will you have a fun time with your friend, but you will also cheer up people around you.
At this time of my life, I often drive. Moreover, I like conducting the experiment at the moment I leave my courtyard, heading along a narrow Italian street to get to the main road. At this time, I meet a great number of pedestrians who are walking along the same narrow street. My car speed is about 20 km per hour more or less, and of course, at that speed, I can pay attention to pedestrians, and they pay attention to me. Sometimes I drive with a normal face, pretending to be focused on the road. Passers-by look at me and then look away. Another time, I drive with a broad smile, and I realize that the attention of passers-by is focused on me, which is on the driver passing by them. Always! So, like I said, it always causes a response smile, and I realize that for a moment I make someone’s life a little happier.

Recently, here in Italy, where I live, I have made a friend. She is my first Italian friend, and we speak two languages, English and Italian. She wants to practice her English with me, and I, of course, my Italian. In any case, while speaking a foreign language, you can’t always build a complex sentence correctly, especially when you want to say something quickly, but we really try. We always understand each other, even if each of us notices that our sentences structure is not perfect.
The other day she told me: “You have an amazing gift — your smile and laughter! Talking to you, I realized I smiled much more often than before, and people around me noticed it! And when you laugh, even if sometimes I don’t understand why, I start laughing too, and it brings me such joy that the reason for your laughter is no longer important to me!”
After her words, I thought: “It is so simple to give people around your smile and laughter and understand that it changes their lives for the better.” People are attracted to positivity, smile, sincere laughter, as well as they are drawn to the beautiful and cheerful!
If you want to diversify your life, improve someone else’s life, create a community of happy people around you — smile! Laugh! Enjoy and love the life you live!
