While the box office is currently lit up by the new Now You See Me and Zootopia 2, many moviegoers are already gearing up for the New Year season — a time when cinemas are packed with exciting and highly anticipated releases.
One of the biggest films this December is Avatar 3 from James Cameron, which will explore a new Fire Tribe and their conflict with the Na’vi — something the franchise has never shown before.
Experts predict a $110 million opening weekend for the film, which is considered a modest number given its enormous budget. Cameron himself has said he isn’t too worried about the box-office outcome, and if the movie ends up flopping, he’s prepared to shut down his future plans for the franchise.
Another film set to hit theaters soon is Eternity, starring Elizabeth Olsen. The story dives into an otherworldly realm where everyone arrives after death — though problems don’t disappear there either. The main character must choose which of her two suitors she truly loves.
And at the end of December, we’ll also get the premiere of Marty Supreme, starring Timothée Chalamet — a biopic about the young man who invented table tennis.
