In 2017, many believed that the X-Men franchise was nearing its end. This sense of finality was largely due to the release of Logan, directed by James Mangold — a film set in 2029, chronicling the final years of Wolverine’s life, after most mutants had either died or vanished.

Logan now looks after an aged and ailing Charles Xavier, with the help of fellow mutant Caliban. Their lives are quiet, almost forgotten — until everything changes. Logan is faced with a choice: to return to the life he tried so desperately to escape, in order to save a group of children — and, perhaps, their future.

The film became a box office success, grossing over $600 million on a modest budget. Critics praised it highly, and Logan eventually earned a place among IMDb’s Top 250 films of all time.

What makes Logan especially compelling is its emotional depth. Beneath the story of a brutal, emotionally closed-off man lies a quiet truth: that being relentlessly strong and stoic takes a heavy toll. And within even the hardest metal skeleton, there may still lie a kind and generous heart — if only it can be awakened.

So if you haven’t watched Logan in a while, it might be time for a rewatch — especially now that Hugh Jackman’s days in the Marvel universe may not be over after all.
