In 1996, Brian De Palma directed a spy thriller based on the 1960s TV series Mission: Impossible, with a then-young Tom Cruise starring in the lead role. The film became a success and launched a franchise full of ups and downs. Still, each installment has had its fair share of thrilling, memorable moments — the very thing that has defined the series.
The older Cruise got, the braver he became with death-defying stunts — climbing the Burj Khalifa in the fourth film or clinging to the side of a plane in the fifth. The story behind these stunts became even more well-known after Matt Damon shared on a podcast how Cruise planned his infamous Dubai stunt.

“I asked the safety manager if we could do it, and he said no. So I hired a new safety manager.” That quote seems to perfectly capture the essence of Tom Cruise — his relentless spirit and the jaw-dropping, risky stunts he insists on doing himself. And, of course, the latest film is no exception.

The eighth movie, The Final Reckoning, was delayed following the underperformance of the seventh film in 2023. However, critics praised it highly, attributing its box office struggles to stiff competition from Barbie and Oppenheimer.

This latest installment is rumored to be Cruise’s final appearance as Ethan Hunt — and to say the farewell was grand would be an understatement. The film is packed with incredible action, realistic shots of Cruise hanging by one hand from an airplane wing, diving underwater, and performing many other awe-inspiring feats that brought the franchise worldwide fame.

Mission: Impossible reminds us all that, in the end, every mission is indeed possible — and that courage and inner strength will always triumph over fear and evil.

Enjoy the film!
