Some tales live forever — both in the hearts of readers and in world culture. A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens has been adapted for the screen many times. For example, in 1992, Scrooge was played by Michael Caine, and of course, everyone remembers the 2009 adaptation, where the role of the greedy miser was brilliantly performed by Jim Carrey.

Recently, it was revealed that Johnny Depp is in talks to play Scrooge in a new adaptation directed by Ti West. This version is expected to be darker and more original than its predecessors.

The film will likely be titled Ebenezer: A Christmas Story. Its release date is still unknown, but it’s expected to come out no earlier than the winter of 2026.

This timeless story teaches us how to be generous, grateful, and — most importantly — to love people and love life, so that the world can return that love to us!

And what do you think about Depp being chosen for the role?
