One of DC Studios’ most troubled upcoming projects has released a new trailer—and here are a few reasons why it has drawn so much attention.
The first trailer showed almost no footage of the characters’ rings or costumes, while also leaving out any glimpses of space or large-scale intergalactic battles. Because of this, the overall narrative failed to excite many fans, who quickly began criticizing the studio and its approach to adapting these iconic characters.

Recently, however, a second trailer was released—and it feels radically different from the first in almost every way. There is far more footage of the rings and how the characters interact with them, as well as flashbacks featuring a young John Stewart (the main character, played by Aaron Pierre) and a younger version of Hal Jordan, portrayed by Kyle Chandler.

Recent rumors have also proven to be true. Judging by the trailer’s narrative, there will be clear tension between the two main characters, rooted in Hal’s unwillingness to hand over his ring to anyone else.
The trailer also gave us a first look at a character played by Laura Linney, along with many more action-heavy moments.

There is still hope for this series, and just like the Green Lanterns themselves in the comics, we continue to believe with all our hearts that DC can deliver something truly great.
