Paramount Pictures, like most major Hollywood studios, has no intention of letting go of its biggest franchises—and The Godfather is no exception.
The studio has officially launched development on a fourth installment centered around the Corleone family, and this time the story will reportedly be based on the upcoming novel Connie, which has even received approval from the family of the original author, Mario Puzo.

Of course, trusting the opinions of “relatives” in Hollywood is not always entirely reliable, since it can be difficult to judge how objective such praise really is. In any case, the book itself is not expected to be released until autumn 2027.

Whether the studio and the new authors will be able to surpass the original — or at least reach the same legendary level of quality—remains a mystery.
