Kane Pixels will forever remain in the history of indie thrillers as the creator who brought a new dimension to the genre and introduced a fascinating concept — liminal spaces.

The original Backrooms video, released in 2022, told the story of a man (from a first-person perspective) who suddenly finds himself in a strange underground space resembling an endless office, lit by faintly buzzing fluorescent lights, yet otherwise almost completely silent.

No people, no windows — just infinite corridors where unsettling sounds and mysterious creatures occasionally appear. The video became a massive hit, now surpassing 72 million views. Recently, A24 officially announced a feature film based on the Backrooms phenomenon, with Kane Pixels himself involved as one of the creators.

The teaser reveals several “levels” of the Backrooms but keeps the plot and characters under wraps, leaving fans plenty of room for speculation.
