Unexpectedly, A24 has released the trailer for the upcoming film The Invite, directed by Olivia Wilde. The story already sounds highly engaging and intriguing.
Beyond its star-studded cast, the plot follows a married couple (Seth Rogen and Wilde) who invite another couple (Edward Norton and Penélope Cruz) over for dinner in order to get to know each other better.
The trailer doesn’t reveal much about the narrative, but it suggests that the film will be a blend of comedy and thriller. Some of its atmospheric notes even recall Carnage (2011), which also centers on the tension between two married couples engaged in conversation.
The film is set for release this summer and is already generating significant interest among audiences. After all, it’s not often that you get the chance to see such a talented ensemble of film stars sharing the screen — especially within such a compelling story.
