Remakes, sequels, spin-offs. These words are used constantly to describe cinema in 2025. There is no shortage of original ideas, but of course, studios consider it a perfect option to make money off their franchises without having to invent entirely new stories.
The trailer for The Running Man was recently released—a remake of the 1987 film of the same name starring Arnold Schwarzenegger (which itself was an adaptation of Stephen King’s 1982 novel). In the new film, however, the lead role is played by Glen Powell, and the director is none other than Edgar Wright himself, returning to major filmmaking after Baby Driver, which came out in 2017.

The main cast also includes Josh Brolin and Michael Cera, both of whom have a remarkable talent for combining comedy with seriousness. The trailer showcased plenty of action-packed and epic scenes of fights, brawls, and chases, as the story follows the protagonist who decides to participate in a game where the entire world hunts him for 30 days. If he survives, he wins a prize and can leave poverty behind forever.

The film premieres on November 7th, but in the meantime, run and watch the trailer—because perhaps we’re in for something from the long-forgotten past, but with a pinch of freshness and uniqueness that Edgar Wright is so known for.
