Overall, 2017 was a very unusual year for cinema. Audiences were treated to such a large number of great films and TV series that many still consider 2017 to be one of the best years for the film industry — at least in the 21st century.
Edgar Wright released an action-comedy with musical elements titled Baby Driver, which tells the story of a young getaway driver who works part-time for the mafia.
The lead role was played by Ansel Elgort, who was still relatively new to the film industry at the time.
In addition to Elgort, the film also starred Lily James, Kevin Spacey, Jamie Foxx, Jon Bernthal, and Jon Hamm, making the ensemble cast even more star-studded. Unlike many other blockbusters and romantic comedies, the film focuses more on the overall experience created by the combination of music, action, and the main character.
Nothing can really be singled out or removed — for the viewer, the music-driven scenes are a way to better understand the protagonist and, of course, to find out whether “Baby” will be able to win the heart of the café beauty.
