Every film festival, much like a new season of a beloved television series, brings fresh and exciting stories from its red carpets each year. Sometimes those stories disappoint, and sometimes they deeply impress and delight film lovers all around the world.
Recently, for his film Minotaur, presented at the 79th Cannes Film Festival, director Andrey Zvyagintsev won the prestigious Grand Prix — the first of his career.

The audience erupted into applause, while the director stood on stage visibly and sincerely moved. Unlike many of his colleagues, however, he chose not to speak at length about the film itself or the challenges of its production.

The story takes place in modern-day Russia in 2022 and follows the director of a successful company who, while facing difficult moral choices and laying off employees, suddenly discovers his wife’s betrayal.

It is worth saying that we — and many others — are incredibly happy for the director, whose artistic legacy will now undoubtedly continue to grow across the world.
Best of luck to you, Mr. Zvyagintsev — and enjoy the film!
