In summer everything becomes a little brighter, a little warmer and perhaps a little more joyful. No country is an exception to this rule, and a perfect example of that is Bulgaria. Besides the abundance of Russian-speaking tourists, beautiful beaches and countless cats, it also feels like the center of the universe.

The old town of Nessebar feels like a true crossroads of different worlds — a blend of Odessa and Italy, with a touch of Hogwarts in its small streets lined with market stalls.

The mix of cultures and traditions makes Bulgaria not only a very unique holiday destination where everyone can find something they enjoy — whether it’s a giant burger from a street stall that looks like it was made for a titan, or a cup of delicious coffee in a café playing ’90s music that feels tailored for your parents — but also a place where you can swim in wonderfully clear waters, sunbathe under the warm sun, and let go of all unnecessary thoughts as they drift away on the breeze.

Bulgaria may not be the kind of holiday for the extremely wealthy in a material sense, but it is certainly a place that will leave a mark on your soul. And perhaps that is its true richness — the sound of waves, children playing on the beach, and music that will stay with you forever, or at the very least, be remembered as part of this, sadly, all-too-short summer.
