A trailer for the film “Ella McCay” was recently released online, telling the story of 34-year-old Ella, who navigates various personal and family matters together with her mother.
Ella’s father is played by Woody Harrelson. Their relationship isn’t very smooth, but it seems that Harrelson will also take on one of the film’s central roles.

The cast also includes Kumail Nanjiani as Ella’s driver, as well as Ayo Edebiri, Jack Lowden, and Rebecca Hall.

Dramas like Ella McCay rarely break through these days, and they’re even less likely to resonate with mainstream audiences — though there are exceptions, and this might just be one of them.

The legendary director James L. Brooks, known for films such as Terms of Endearment (1983) and Jerry Maguire (1996), is at the helm. The star-studded ensemble, led by the incredibly charming Emma Mackey and paired with the iconic Jamie Lee Curtis, inspires great confidence.

The film hits theaters on December 12 — don’t miss it!
