Comic-Con has long become the festival of comic book fandom — a place for everyone from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fans to Marvel and DC enthusiasts, lovers of more indie comics like Spawn and The Boys, and of course, graphic horror novels, which often serve as the foundation for future studio projects.
This year, it was revealed that none other than Ridley Scott and Johnny Depp have teamed up to develop a graphic novel called Hyde, based on the classic tales of Dr. Jekyll and his monstrous alter ego, Mr. Hyde — a terrifying creature awakened within the scientist’s body (something akin to the Hulk, but conceived long before him).
On his Instagram account, Depp posted a live-action teaser for the comic, in which he himself plays Hyde, sitting in his laboratory as he concocts a psychedelic potion, which he later drinks.
Fans were, of course, thrilled by the character Depp portrayed both on screen and on the comic’s pages (fun fact: the actor has loved these stories since childhood and used to carry a small copy of the book in his pocket). They were also amazed by the incredible visuals, style, and atmosphere crafted by Ridley Scott, who, despite his impressive age, continues to delight audiences — or in this case, readers — with his creations.
The graphic novel is already available for pre-order on the official website, where you can dive into the thrilling tale of the monster Hyde, set in the mysterious and shadowy world of Victorian London.
