Alongside Michael, which is currently playing on screens around the world and dominating trailers across every platform and device, this month also brings several other notable releases worth paying attention to.
One of them is The Christophers, directed by Steven Soderbergh (Ocean’s Eleven, Magic Mike), and starring Michaela Coel, James Corden, and of course Ian McKellen.
While Soderbergh may not be a painter in the traditional sense, he “paints” his films through emotion, events, and, of course, his striking use of color and light.
Incidentally, the actor actively uses Instagram and has also promoted the film there. Many critics are already praising the story and the performances of the leading cast, highlighting the sincerity, emotional depth, and uniqueness of this new project.
Ian McKellen, in particular, is impressing audiences this year with the sheer number of projects he’s involved in. In addition to The Christophers, a new adaptation of A Christmas Carol is set to be released, starring Johnny Depp—with McKellen even saying he “fell in love” with Depp during filming, so much did he enjoy the experience. He is also expected to reprise his role as Magneto in Avengers: Doomsday later this winter.
